Immunosuppression Does Its Job

Shayna's liver numbers are going down again but she's also got a cold.  We'll be on the increased prednisone until next Thursday (2 weeks) then start the weaning process (7.5mg @ 1wk, 5mg @ 4wks, 2.5 @ 4wks then hopefully none).  I don't know how the cold will play out.  So far she's in good spirits with a runny/stuffy nose.  She was never sick before transplant except the little cold that postponed the original.  All she did then was sleep more and cry less (sore throat).

We're still going home on the 14th!!  We've got our last Dr apt next Thursday then our friend Yael will come to get us.

Shayna still slithers toward desired objects (forehead to floor while her legs push) but she's getting more confident about it.  She finally figured out the whole walking by holding hands thing but is still more enamored with just the standing in place.  She helped me do laundry and clean the kitchen today.

I finally started sorting mail from the last 2 months.  I'd kept up with the bills but everything else was just piling up.  Yay for EOBs.  My favorite was the EOB for $445,545.75 that had a negotiated rate of $183,242.63.  You gotta wonder about that difference.  Most EOBs are a few hundred to a few thousand.  Thank you Virginia tax payers for our wonderful insurance.  I'm also beginning my collection of tax documents.

  1. Have you guys heard about HIPP? If you haven't ask your social worker for more information. I am so excited for your homecoming on the 14th!

  2. Fabulous, can't wait to see you!

I thought of you guys recently...I spent an hour on the phone sorting out four months' worth of EOBs for a half dozen routine visits (WCV/flu shots/etc). Cannot IMAGINE your paperwork.
